The Paks and the M6 motorway will be accessible to people living in Bács-Kiskun county via the Kalocsa bridge.

The foundation stone of the Kalocsa-Paks Danube Bridge was laid in a ceremonial setting on 10 June. The twentieth bridge of the Danube section in Hungary will be 946 meters long, and the investment will also include a 25-kilometer road network, providing a motorway connection to Kalocsa.

At the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone, minister János Süli spoke about the fact that although the new Danube bridge is not needed to serve the nuclear power plant investment, it will help to make it easier for people living on the left bank of the Danube to get involved in this work and later operation. The minister highlighted:

people in the area know and accept the Paks Nuclear Power Plant and agree to build new nuclear power plant units.

The minister added that a complex, coordinated development program is being implemented that goes beyond the Paks II. project and helps the wider region to catch up.

The project will be implemented via the investment of National Infrastructure Developer Ltd. and is planned to be completed by May 2024.
