The construction licensing of six nuclear island buildings starts

The submission of documentations is another important milestone in the project.

On 4 February, Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. submitted an application for a construction license to the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority for six buildings of the nuclear island of Unit 5, including the control building and the security building. The nuclear authority has 60 days to process license applications, which can be extended by 30 days. National Directorate General for Disaster Management, Ministry of the Interior (NDGDM) participates in the procedure as a specialist authority, and examines compliance with fire and disaster management requirements.

The submission of these license applications is another important milestone in the life of the project, as following the submission of the application for a construction license for the Unit 5 reactor building on 30 December 2021, the licensing of new buildings on the nuclear island, important for later operation, has started.
