Rossen Hristov was informed about the Paks project
Without nuclear energy, supply security cannot be guaranteed, Bulgarian Energy Minister Rossen Hristov said at a meeting with Gergely Jákli in Budapest. The Chairman-CEO of Paks II. Ltd. hosted the Bulgarian delegation in Budapest. The meeting focused on the Paks project and nuclear-based electricity generation. The parties agreed that the role of nuclear energy has recently become more important as it is climate-friendly, reliable and increases energy independence.
Bulgaria has relied on nuclear energy since the 1970s and currently has two VVER-1000 pressurised water reactors in Kozloduy, which provide a third of the country's electricity.
