Conference in Győr about the Paks II. investment

A national energy efficiency event was launched by the Energy Division of the Association of Management and Scientific Associations in collaboration with the National Federation of Social Associations. The first stage of the series was hosted by the city of Győr, with the Paks II. investment in the center of the conference.

In the opening lecture of the event dr. Attila Aszódi, Secretary of State, presented the main characteristics of the Hungarian electricity system, referring to high import exposure, and outlined the declining capacities and what kind of fuel consumption the profession anticipates. The Secretary of State for the maintenance of the performance of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant has spoken about the main tasks of the next period of the project, emphasizing that capacity maintenance of Paks is necessary and unavoidable to guarantee the security of our country's electricity supply.

Regarding the order and requirements of the use of nuclear energy, Gyula Fichtinger, Director General of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA), informed the audience, explaining how the authority was preparing for Paks II. investment, and what major licensing steps are needed to implement the project. Gyula Fichtinger also talked about the tasks of the HAEA in supervising on-site works and attending the auditis of the subcontractors.

In the third lecture of the conference in Győr, dr. Ferenc Kereki, Managing Director Plc. for Radioactive Waste Management, outlined the temporary and final storage practices of radioactive waste with different activities, describing the facilities in Hungary. The director drew attention to the importance of social relations and addressed the research program for the location of high activity radioactive waste.
