The installation works of the Unit 2 reactor in Astravets have been completed

Another milestone was reached in the implementation of the Belarus Nuclear Power Plant: the installation of the Unit 2 reactor was completed.

The specialists installed the reactor's internal equipment on Unit 2 of the Astravets nuclear power plant, placed the fuel simulator assemblies in the future active zone, put in place the protective pipes and finally the reactor cover. In parallel, a hydraulic test of the primary and secondary circuit equipments was performed.

According to a statement issued by Rosatom in connection with this, the filling of the primary circuit with desalinated water will be started soon, and after receiving the necessary licenses, tests will be carried out before the hot operation of Unit 2 of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.

Two VVER-1200 units are being built in Astravets, Belarus. Unit 1 is the first 3+ generation Russian-made unit to be constructed outside Russia and is currently in pre-commercial test operation.
