The system operator measured another domestic electricity consumption record.

Another historical electricity consumption record was set in Hungary on Tuesday, 25 January. According to verified data from MAVIR, the system load was 7396 MW in the quarter starting at 5:15 pm - this was 35 MW higher than the former peak measured on 9 December.

According to MAVIR data, at the time of consumption records, in addition to the Paks Nuclear Power Plant (2052 MW) and the domestic gas power plants (1636 MW), electricity imports (2851 MW) provided the vast majority of the total gross system load. As the peak took place after sunset, solar power plants were only able to make a negligible contribution to meeting the demand.
