MVM Paks II. Ltd. is holding public forums
On 19 December 2014, MVM Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Development Ltd. submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment, which forms an integral part of environmental permitting, to the competent authority of the environmental permitting process, the Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation Inspectorate for Southern Transdanubia. Furthermore, the Company made available a non-technical summary of the impact statement and an international chapter containing answers to a number of questions received from the countries registered in the procedure during the preliminary consultations to the Inspectorate. Pursuant to the Espoo Convention, in the consultation phase, 10 countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Croatia, Malta, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine) indicated their intent to participate in the procedure. Consultations and, if requested, public hearings will also be held in these countries. The whole documentation is available on the website of the Company.
Organised by the Inspectorate, a public hearing will be held in Paks on permitting. Although MVM Paks II. Ltd. is not obliged to do so by regulations, as part of its direct and open communication, the Company decided to inform the residents of 40 municipalities in the vicinity of Paks in advance. Through two public forums a day held over a 20-day period between 17 March and 23 April, those interested will receive information about the current state of the project aimed at the establishment of the new nuclear power plant units, environmental permitting, the major details of the Environmental Impact Assessment and the public hearing in Paks, which will take place in the spring. Simultaneously with the public forums, the Company will forward an information brochure to every (nearly 50,000) household in all municipalities about the topics on the agenda of the public forums.
Bearing in mind the success and good results of the public forums organised prior to 3D seismic measurements, the presence of those interested will do MVM Paks II. Ltd. great honour. At the same time, the Company encourages everybody to ask the questions and to express the opinions they may have during the personal meetings to be organised.
