Electricity consumption hit a historical record in 2017 in Hungary

Based on the announcement of MAVIR Hungarian Electricity Transmission System Operator Company Ltd., the amount of electricity used in Hungary increased by more than 2.5% compared to 2016.

According to MAVIR's preliminary data, Hungary used 45.057.4 GWh of electricity in 2017, which is a historic record. Electricity consumption within a day also peaked: there was no need for so much electricity in our country like on 27 January 2017. On this day, MAVIR registered 146.87 GWh of electricity consumption.

Almost a third of Hungary's electricity demand was still covered by imports (import share was 28.9% in 2016 and 28.6% in 2017).
