About the actualities of Paks II. at BME

The Paks II. project has a serious opportunity for the university students – emphasized dr. Attila Aszódi in Budapest, who held a lecture about the actualities at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

At the Student Association of Energy’s event on 3 May the state secretary for the maintenance of the performance of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant focused on the past year’s events. He spoke about  the new governmental structure formed last spring, highlighting that following the parliamentary election of 2018 János Süli was strengthened in his position of minister without portfolio responsible for the investment. The state secretary also said that Paks II. company provides a transparent communication and also provides regular information on the investment. It has been said that the professionals are currently working on two major tasks: compiling the establishment licence application and setting up the staging area. In connection with the latter, 15 complexes will be constructed with some 90 buildings, the Russian Contractor has already occupied the premises of the first facilities.

– Such a big investment has never been in Hungary – emphasized Attila Aszódi, who thinks that Paks II. has a serious opportunity for university students. He also added: the selection process of instructors who train future operators has already begun.

Dr. Attila Aszódi also attended a debate on 2 May at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He searched for an answer with dr. Béla Munkácsy, lecturer of ELTE Department of Environmental and Landscape Geography, how can nuclear energy and renewables answer the energy questions of our time and our future. The topics discussed were: the various kinds of energy generation, their return and effect on the environment, the energy mix, energy storage and security of supply. The debate was organized by the Youth Section of the Hungarian Energy Society.
