The nature conservation license application has been submitted
The construction and erection base of the new nuclear power plant units does not have any separate natural value, yet as required by the environmental license in the case of a few plant and animal species living there, „the protection of protected species of animals and plants should be given particular attention during construction. Should the relocation of a protected animal or plant species become necessary, it must be approved by the Government Office.”
The nature conservation license application concerns the relocation of protected plant and animal species found in the construction and erection base and seed collection. The protected plant and animal species living in large numbers or finding food in the construction and erection base are of high value, the European feather grass (Stipa pennata), orphan maidenhair (Stipa borysthenica), sand orpine (Sedum hillebrandtii), cone-headed grasshopper (Acrida ungarica), short-horned grasshopper (Omocestus minutus), European green lizard (Lacerta viridis), among other protected species.
The relocation to the refuge will take place in a designated area with natural boundaries on the staging area. The main purpose of this area is to offer shelter and home to the precious plant and animal species of the staging area, where they can live and grow. The species can relocate back to their original habitat once the work is done, and they create valuable ensembles like they currently have. The aim of the intervention is to preserve the existing ecological values of the staging area.
