One of the tasks of the project company during the Paks II. project is to provide electricity for the Contractor for construction-installation works.

In order to fulfill the task a 22/11 kV transformer station is needed on the staging area. The winner of the procurement of the construction of the transformer station, MVM Ovit Ltd., started working on 31 May 2018.

As Rosatom reported, Unit 1 of the Belarusian NPP already started its commercial operation. This is the first overseas 3+ generation unit constucted and operated by the Russian energy corporation, and it is also the fifth such VVER-1200 unit. Two-two such units already generate electricity in Sosnovy Bor next to Saint Petersburg and in Novovoronezh. Another VVER-1200 unit is under construction in the Astravets site, thus the Belarusian NPP’s capacity – just like the one in Paks – will be 2400 MW.

The physical start-up of Unit 1 of the Belarusian NPP started on 7 August 2020, while on 3 November it was connected to the grid. The test operation started on 22 December, while the competent ministry of the Belarusian Republic issued the license to start the operation on 2 June 2021.
