Dunaújváros and Veszprém joined Paks II. Academy

Paks II. Ltd. signed the grant agreement with the University of Dunaújváros and the University of Pannonia, which enables the start of the nuclear power plant operation engineer course in these institutes.
The interactive truck was popular in Paks as well

Halting its country road trip, the interactive information truck arrived to Paks for the Town Day. The interactive vehicle hosted more than 1500 visitors. The information tent of Paks II. presented itself at this event which – similar to the truck – awaited the visitors with several games and useful information.

Paks II. Academy is starting

Paks II. Ltd. launches an advanced training course in cooperation with six universities. The Paks II. Academy program will be open to participants from September in specialized training for nuclear power plant operation engineer based on undergraduate training. The University of Pécs is also among the prospective training institutions, and a grant agreement was signed on Monday at the Rector's Council Room.
Cooperation agreement with Szekszárd

Cooperation is one of the pillars of the Paks II. project, for the realization of the investment and for the success of the development of the region of the nuclear power plant, several agreements were made. On 9 May in Szekszárd minister János Süli signed a framework agreement.
The employees of Paks II. Ltd. collected money for the needy

The employees of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. organized a money collection for the needy clients of the Family Support Service of Paks Sub-regional Social Center, following a successful collection for the patients of Balassa János Hospital in Tolna county previously.
A sharp increase in electricity import in February

Following the electricity consumption records in January, February also resulted in a new record value: the share of electricity import was high due to the decline in domestic electricity production. Electricity import was 36.5% compared to 32.08% a year before.
The Paks II. truck starts its yearly information round trip

The Paks II. interactive truck starts its round trip on 25 March 2019 on Kisbér. The vehicle is going to visit Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér and Pest county cities and eight summer festivals, and for the first time it will be there on Construma trade show. The range of options offered by the truck was further broadened.

The start-up of the second 3+ gen. nuclear power plant unit started in Novovoronezh

The physical start-up of the second III+ gen. VVER-1200 NPP unit of Novovoronezh II. started according to the schedule on 19 February 2019. Thanks to the start-up of the reactor and the beginning of the commercial operation expected at the end of the year, it will prevent over 4 million tonnes of GHG emissions every year and boost the region’s economy – can be read in Rosatom's statement.
Hungary has the second most favorable residential electricity price in the EU

Hungary improved its position and got to the second place in that EU hierarchy which compares the residential electricity prices. Only Bulgaria had cheaper residential electricity price in January 2019 – can be seen in the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority’s (MEKH) international price comparison survey.

The costs of decarbonisation

The world premiere of the newest publication of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD NEA) was held on 25 January in Hungary. The costs of decarbonisation publication was presented by the agency’s director general, William D. Magwood at the international conference organized for this theme. Another hot topic at the press conference held before the conference was the Paks II. investment, which was presented by the minister without portfolio responsible for the project, Mr. János Süli.
The Hungarian electricity consumption record was broken again

The information truck of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. had a rich last year: it hosted almost 60 thousand visitors in 2018. Besides visiting the major cities of Zala, Vas and Győr-Moson-Sopron counties and several Budapest districts, it also visited 8 summer festivals as well.

Last year several records in electricity consumption were set in Hungary. First in March, then in December several times more and more electricity consumption records were measured by MAVIR. The highest amount, 6869 MW was reached on 19 December.

A new record was set for domestic electricity consumption on 6 December

The country’s electricity demand reached a new record on 6 December, the domestic system load reached 6843 megawatts, MAVIR Hungarian Independent Transmission Operator Company Ltd. said on its website. The Hungarian power system provides supply without any problems.
