The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention) deemed the environmental impact assessment of Paks II. project as best practice.

Dr. Attila Aszódi announced at the Budapest conference of Portfolio Energy Investment Forum 2017: the payment of the first ten contractor’s accounts of the Paks II. project, amounting 98 million EUR has begun.

The project company responsible for the implementation of the two new units operates under the name of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. In addition to the company name, the new dynamic logo indicates too that the investment has entered the implementation phase.

The competent authority, the Pest County Government Office approved the environmental license at the second instance which was issued for the Paks II. project on 29th September 2016.

Another session of the Paks Social Council took place, where János Lázár minister of the Prime Minister’s Office announced that János Süli will continue his work as a minister without portfolio responsible for the Paks II. project, and he also told the government will provide a 1,5 bn HUF worth of framework for regional development.

Dr. Attila Aszódi government commissioner gave a detailed presentation about the preparation of the new nuclear power plant units’ construction and the investment’s actualities to the Tolna County Defense Committee.

The competent authority, the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) issued the site license on 30 March 2017 for the project company.
