The employees of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. organized a money collection for the needy clients of the Family Support Service of Paks Sub-regional Social Center, following a successful collection for the patients of Balassa János Hospital in Tolna county previously.

Following the electricity consumption records in January, February also resulted in a new record value: the share of electricity import was high due to the decline in domestic electricity production. Electricity import was 36.5% compared to 32.08% a year before.

The Paks II. interactive truck starts its round trip on 25 March 2019 on Kisbér. The vehicle is going to visit Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér and Pest county cities and eight summer festivals, and for the first time it will be there on Construma trade show. The range of options offered by the truck was further broadened.

The erection of the new nuclear power plant units can only start once the implementation license is already obtained – told minister János Süli in a written answer for a parliamentary question.

The physical start-up of the second III+ gen. VVER-1200 NPP unit of Novovoronezh II. started according to the schedule on 19 February 2019. Thanks to the start-up of the reactor and the beginning of the commercial operation expected at the end of the year, it will prevent over 4 million tonnes of GHG emissions every year and boost the region’s economy – can be read in Rosatom's statement.

Hungary improved its position and got to the second place in that EU hierarchy which compares the residential electricity prices. Only Bulgaria had cheaper residential electricity price in January 2019 – can be seen in the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority’s (MEKH) international price comparison survey.

President János Áder appointed Pál Kovács as State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office with effect from 1 February 2019.

The world premiere of the newest publication of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD NEA) was held on 25 January in Hungary. The costs of decarbonisation publication was presented by the agency’s director general, William D. Magwood at the international conference organized for this theme. Another hot topic at the press conference held before the conference was the Paks II. investment, which was presented by the minister without portfolio responsible for the project, Mr. János Süli.

MAVIR Hungarian Independent Transmission Operator Company Ltd. informed today that the domestic electricity consumption was broken for the second time this year.

The information truck of Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. had a rich last year: it hosted almost 60 thousand visitors in 2018. Besides visiting the major cities of Zala, Vas and Győr-Moson-Sopron counties and several Budapest districts, it also visited 8 summer festivals as well.

Last year several records in electricity consumption were set in Hungary. First in March, then in December several times more and more electricity consumption records were measured by MAVIR. The highest amount, 6869 MW was reached on 19 December.

Paks II. Ltd. takes care of protection of fauna and flora on the site of the two new units and in the construction area as well. MVM ERBE Zrt.’s professionals delegated to complete the conservationist works in the autmun of 2018 maintained the nesting boxes and cased a botanical joint last weeks.

Gifts donated by the employees of Paks II. Ltd. were handed over by János Süli minister responsible for the investment, István Lenkei CEO and István Mittler Communications Director at the Pediatric Unit of the Tolna Megyei Balassa János Hospital.

The country’s electricity demand reached a new record on 6 December, the domestic system load reached 6843 megawatts, MAVIR Hungarian Independent Transmission Operator Company Ltd. said on its website. The Hungarian power system provides supply without any problems.

Information was presented on the establishment of new nuclear power plant units by the management of Paks II. Ltd. at a conference organized jointly by the Department of Building Services and Process Engineering of BME, the Hungarian, the Budapest and Pest County Chamber of Engineers, together with building services organizations.

Dr. Attila Aszódi, State Secretary for the maintenance of the performance of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, presented the key role of the new nuclear power plant units in achieving climate protection goals that are in compliance with the strictest European legislation in Szekszárd and Budapest.

After the Economic and Hungarian Ethnicities Committees, members of the Committee on the Budget received direct information about the Paks II. project. János Süli minister, dr. Attila Aszódi state secretary, István Lenkei CEO and István Mittler communications director (Paks II. Nuclear Power Plant Ltd.) answered the parliamentarians’ questions.

A WANO communications workshop called „New Challenges in Nuclear Communications” was held in Paks in Erzsébet Grand Hotel between 13-17 November 2018, which was organized jointly by MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. and Paks II. Ltd. At the event, professionals from about a dozen countries have discussed new methods and challenges in nuclear communication.

The Committee of Hungary’s Ethnicities held an external session on 6 November 2018 in Paks, where János Süli, the minister of the Paks II. investment, István Lenkei, CEO of Paks II. Ltd. and István Mittler, Communications Director of the company briefed about the erection of the new nuclear power plant units.

The people living in the region of Paks were informed at the TEIT day held in the Paks Nuclear Power Plant about the results of the nuclear power plant and the Paks II. project, and the national practice of radioactive waste management.
