Deepening of the excavation pit is continuing for the planned Unit 5 – Péter Szijjártó announced.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade spoke in Vienna about the fact that partnership and cooperation in the field of nuclear energy is still based on a professional basis.

The soil improvement works under the nuclear island of Unit 5 have been successfully completed, according to the the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

In only two days of coordinated, precise work, the elements of the core-catcher were lifted in the inlet channel of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.

– The Paks II. project has reached a new milestone with the arrival of one of the most important long-lead item – Péter Szijjártó announced.

In Istanbul, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó met with Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom. The meeting was also attended by Chairman-CEO Gergely Jákli, and Managing Director Róbert Griljov.

More than forty years of experience from operating units will also be used in the Paks II. project – was said in Vienna.

Gergely Jákli said the decision is an important signal for EU and Hungarian suppliers.

European companies will no longer need the permission of national authorities to participate in the project.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó handed over a workers' hostel for about 150 people in Foktő, Bács-Kiskun County.

The event, held at the House of Music Hungary, emphasized that if electricity needs to be produced in the forecasted extreme weather conditions, then the stable and reliable nuclear energy is unavoidable.

The same size model as the original was used to test the process used to pour the baseplate’s concrete of the new units.
